• Oh, The Humidity…

    Oh, The Humidity…

    Man…it’s just so humid outside!

I’m to the point that I’m afraid to leave a book open, because the pages will just turn to mush! Books aren’t the only thing in danger, though. Food can get soggy, especially crispy things. They just soak up the moisture in the air… The bad part is that it’s not even that hot outside – only the wetness in the air is bothering me. This means that, while the pool or some water-related activity would be nice, it wouldn’t be as effective compared to warmer weather.

It feels like everything is just a little bit damp – for me, one of the worst feelings in the world! Everything I touch is just…squishy. Ew!

This artwork was made more than a year ago, and it was still perfect for this post! Once in a while, I make a “newspaper article” cover, just because it’s fun. The made-up news outlet is Clover Hill News, CHN, because Clover Hill is the place where most of my OCs live. The second I made this post I knew exactly what cover I would put on it!

For this drawing, I used a different brush than I had on previous art. It’s more like a pencil, and thus has a rougher appearance. It’s also in a different style than what I made before. My favorite part about this art is the shine and shadow on the bubbles!

  • Welcome to Summer!

    Welcome to Summer!

Happy last day of school, everybody! I hope you all had a great time this school year – I did!

I can’t believe that the school year is over already… It feels like it should still be January! I just want to thank my friends – you know who you are – for always making school more fun and helping me when I needed it. You guys are the people who gave me the motivation I needed to go to school every day! Also, I hope everybody had as great a time this year as I did. 6th grade was really one of the more fun years of school for me. Being the general start of real middle school, it was a little scary at first. I definitely had to get used to the changing of classes and getting lockers for the first time. My teachers and classmates were really fun though, and I’m grateful for all of you!

Special shout-out to Ms. Frank, teacher at LMS, who’s retiring this year. Thanks for being an amazing social studies teacher and I hope your retirement treats you well!

I made the little drawing above because that’s what I feel like many friend groups were doing today: taking a final picture before the end of the school year to remember 6th grade.

I will probably still post over the summer, but still – have an amazing summer, everyone! 🙂

  • It’s the Last Week of School Already?

It’s the Last Week of School Already?

Guys…it’s already the last week of school! How did this year go by so fast?!

There’s no way it’s already the last Monday of the school year. No way! Tomorrow we start half days, and Thursday is when we end! It’s kind of an awkward time to start something, but…it’s fine.

Time has really flown this past year. It feels, well, wrong that school should be ending in only a few days, and it’s the first year where I’d felt like that. My friends agree with me, so I’m glad I’m not just going crazy. But…that could be true too. I’m working on always keeping my mind open.

Anyway, I have mixed feelings about the end of this year. I’m glad to have a break, but at the same time it’s kind of sad! I don’t really want to leave all of my beloved teachers, do I? Even if it means freedom? To add to this, I’m only looking forward to certain aspects of the summer; for example, I love the pool, but hate the intense, insanely humid heat.

And… this is where I talk about the artwork at the head of this entry. I had actually made this drawing before the post, so I was looking for artwork to use for this and it seemed like the perfect opportunity. When I made it I was trying out different anime styles, and ended up with the image you see here.

(of course, the dialog was added afterward!)

  • Hello, Everybody, and Welcome to the Roxoverse!

Hello, Everybody, and Welcome to the Roxoverse!

Greetings to all, whoever you may be! You have just entered the Roxoverse.

The Roxoverse is a fun little universe where I, Roxie Caravella, post little messages and drawings that I make, all just for fun. It’s open to whoever wants to read a 12-year-old’s drawing blog. To be honest, I’m not sure how many people that is.

I first made this just because I wanted a little thing to share with my friends, and that’s probably all it will be. I’m not advertising or marketing anything, so, chance is, you’ll likely only discover this if someone (presumably someone I know) tells you about it. But I’m fine with that!

Most likely, the messages I post will only be about little things that are going on, like the end of school or just how hot it is outside. The art that comes with it is probably going to be more interesting! I use the application Procreate, which has been extremely fun and easy to use and I really enjoy working with it.

If you’re wondering, I don’t think I’ll have a set schedule for posting – just whenever I have a bit of free time or if something major happens!

Overall, this blog is just a fun little side project for me, and I hope you enjoy reading it!
